After (February 9, 2007)

This picture shows the new sidelight and door from the inside.  The speaker above the sidelight is a YourBell programmable doorbell.  The speaker box holds .mp3 and .wav files that can be loaded into the box through a USB cable connected to a computer to customize the doorbell sounds. The doorbell cycles through the .mp3 and/or .wav sound files with each push of the doorbell button. The device can hold up to 4 minutes or about 30 sound clips, depending on the size of the .mp3 or .wav files you load into it.

Here are the current sounds programmed into my doorbell.

This picture shows the other new sidelight.

This picture shows the new door design.

The windows on each sidelight are one solid window instead of being three smaller windows separated by trim like the sidelights were on the old door frame. The new windows are double pane glass in a steel frame.

The door knob and deadbolt are from the old door.  I had to replace the door knob the year before so it was still new and in good condition.

The top of the old step was removed including the plywood underneath.  New 1/2 inch pressure treated plywood was put in then covered with composite decking and an ice and water shield.

Composite decking baseboard was added to each side.

A piece of weather stripping was added to the bottom of the door.

The doorbell button was placed on the far right side instead of in the door frame.  This was done because the wiring has less of a chance of getting damaged then if it was run through the frame near the door.

I put a censored block over the house number in this picture.
